Outdoor balustrades

Outdoor glass balustrades on the Gold Coast

Balconies, decks, verandas and pool surrounds. Marine grade fittings specified to your address.

The balcony is the reason you bought the house

Nobody on the Gold Coast buys a home for the balcony rail. They buy it for what you can see from the balcony, and then a solid balustrade puts a horizontal line straight through the middle of it.

Glass is the only barrier that leaves the view intact. You get the same protection, the same compliance, and the water, the skyline or the hinterland stays where you can see it from a seated position, which is where you actually look at it from.

We supply and install outdoor glass balustrades across the Gold Coast for balconies, decks, verandas, stair landings and pool surrounds

Where outdoor glass is different to indoor

Indoors, a balustrade is a design decision. Outdoors it is an engineering one as well, and the difference is mostly in the hardware.

Wind. Balustrades on exposed elevations carry wind load, and the higher you are the more of it. Glass thickness and fixing are specified against that rather than against a catalogue default.

Salt. This is the one that separates the jobs. Standard fittings on a beachfront balcony will look tired in a few years. We spec the stainless grade to the address, and on exposed waterfront that means going up a grade rather than hoping.

Water. Outdoor fixings sit in weather. Detailing at the base is what keeps water out of the fixing rather than sitting in it.

None of this shows up on a quote as a line item, which is exactly why it is worth asking about before you sign one.

What we install outdoors

Balconies. The most common job. Frameless glass with either spigots or standoff fittings depending on the slab edge.

Decks and verandas. Timber decks need something solid under the fixing, which we check at the measure rather than on the day.

Pool surrounds. Where a balustrade and a pool barrier are the same run of glass, it has to satisfy both, and we design it that way from the start.

Commercial. Apartment buildings, office frontages, common areas

Benefits, plainly

  • Shelter from the wind without losing the light
  • No rust, no rot, no repainting
  • The view stays the view
  • A hose and a squeegee is the whole maintenance routine

Safe and secure

We use toughened safety glass and stainless fittings, built to Australian standards. On completion our licensed contractors issue a Form 15 compliance certificate, and the work carries a ten year warranty covering faulty supplies and installation faults.

Whether it is a four storey building or a one bedroom apartment, glass balustrading buys space and light that a solid rail takes away.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose the finish on the fittings?

Yes. High polish and satin are the standard options, and powder coated black is available for a bolder, more modern look.

Decades, installed and specified properly. The glass is not what ages. It is the fittings, and how long they last is decided by the grade of stainless chosen against how exposed your address is.

Yes. They are made from toughened safety glass, typically 10mm to 12mm, and built to AS 1288. On exposed elevations the thickness and fixing are specified against the wind load rather than assumed.

Yes. Toughened glass is very strong and, if it ever does break, it breaks into blunt granules rather than shards. Frameless glass also has no footholds, so there is nothing for a child to climb.

Warm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse the fittings with fresh water as well, especially near the beach, because that is what stops salt sitting on the stainless.
