Sloping blocks are the Burleigh problem
Most of the coast is flat. Burleigh is not.
The blocks running back from the beach and up the hill have real fall across them, and that changes a pool fence from a straight line into a design problem.
A pool barrier has to hold its full height measured from the ground on the outside, the whole way along. On a sloping block that means stepping the panels down the fall in sections, rather than running one continuous line and hoping.
Stepping is more panels, more setting out and more spigots, so it costs more. It also has to be done deliberately, because a badly stepped run looks like a mistake and a well stepped one looks intentional. Where the steps land is a decision we make with you at the measure, not something we work out on the day.
Old houses, older surrounds
Burleigh is a renovation suburb. Post war beach houses and seventies brick homes being extended, lifted and modernised, often with a pool that was retrofitted into the yard decades ago.
Those surrounds have usually been worked on more than once. Before we quote we check what a spigot is going into, because on a sloping block with an old surround the answer is sometimes that some preparation is needed first. Better to price that up front than raise it once the glass is made.
Beachfront salt, genuinely
Burleigh is coastal and the exposure is real, particularly for properties near the beach and on the exposed side of the hill.
That means a proper marine grade on the fittings. Further back towards the highway the pressure drops off and the specification can come down with it. We look at your address rather than blanket quoting the suburb.
Access on the hill
Hillside blocks with steps to the back yard and no side access are common here. Getting 12mm panels to the pool takes planning and sometimes extra hands.
It is not a barrier, it is a line on the quote. We look at it at the measure.

Why a quote here should be higher than a flat block
If you have called around and one Burleigh quote is noticeably cheaper than the rest, look at how it handles the fall.
A stepped run needs more panels and more spigots than a straight one over the same distance. A quote that prices it as a simple run either has not measured the slope or is planning to revise the number later. We would rather explain the difference now than have that conversation on install day.

Can you fence a pool on a sloping block?
Yes, and a lot of Burleigh work is exactly that. Panels are stepped down the fall so every section holds its full height from the ground outside. It costs more than a flat run because it takes more panels and more setting out, and that will be on your quote rather than added later.
Will a stepped fence look odd?
Not if the steps are planned. Where they land is a design decision we make with you at the measure. Done properly it reads as deliberate, and on a sloping block there is no alternative that complies.
Do Burleigh properties need the top grade of fittings?
Near the beach and on the exposed side of the hill, yes. Further back it comes down. We specify to the address.
