Frameless glass installation Gold Coast: here’s how it works
From the first site visit to the day we hand over. What happens, how long it takes and what moves the price.
Every installer buys similar glass
The panels on your quote are not what separates a good job from a bad one. Everyone on the Gold Coast is buying from a similar supply chain.
The difference is the setting out, the fixings and the ground. A frameless fence has nothing holding the top of the panel, so spigots out by a few millimetres show up down the whole run. Fix it wrong on a paver and the panel moves. Spec the wrong stainless near the beach and it looks tired in three years.
This is the honest version of how we do it, so you can ask anyone else the same questions.
Step one, the site visit
Todd comes to you. Photos and a phone measurement give you a ballpark, and a ballpark is not a quote.
On site we measure the run properly including returns and gate openings, check what you are fixing into, check the fall across the run, and look at what sits inside the 900mm non-climbable zone. A raised garden bed, a tap or a bench in the wrong place is easier to deal with now than on inspection day.
We also talk through gate position. That is worth ten minutes of your time, because it is the thing people most often wish they had moved, and it is free to change before we quote.
Step two, the quote
Written, itemised and specific. Glass type and thickness, hardware grade and finish, gate hardware, panel count, and any prep work.
If the surround needs repair, or pavers need lifting, or we need to core through tile, it is on the quote before you sign. We would rather have the awkward conversation now than on install day.
Installation-only services
Already have your glass? We can provide installation-only services when the glass has been purchased through Tasman and meets the required Australian Standards.
Please note: We cannot provide Form 43 sign-off unless the glass meets the required Australian Standards.
Step three, order
Once your quote and measurements are approved, we order your glass to the required specifications through Tasman. The glass must meet the required Australian Standards before installation.
Step four, install day
Setting out. Spigot positions are marked from the measurements and checked against the run before anything is drilled. Everything is squared and levelled first.
Fixing. Your surface decides the method.
Core drilled spigots go into concrete. We cut a core, set the spigot and fix it. Cleanest finish, strongest fixing, and what we use whenever the substrate allows.
Base plated spigots bolt to the surface. This is what pavers, tiles and timber decks need. Base plates want something solid underneath, so on a deck that sometimes means adding blocking below.
Glazing. Panels go in, get levelled and packed. On a long run we work to the sightline as well as the level, because your eye picks up a lean across ten metres.
Gates. Hinges set, self closing tension adjusted, latch set so it catches from any position including wide open.
Clean up. Offcuts, packaging and drilling slurry all leave with us.
Most residential jobs are done in a day. Long runs, difficult access or curved work can go into a second, and we tell you which one you are before we start.
Step five, handover
We walk you through the gate hardware and show you how to adjust the latch, because it will need a small adjustment eventually and it is a two minute job you can do yourself.
You get your paperwork on the day, including the Form 15 compliance certificate our licensed contractors issue after every installation. If you need a pool safety certificate for a sale or a lease, that is a separate document from a licensed inspector.
What can slow a job down
- Access. If the only way to the pool is through the house, it takes longer and we plan for it.
- Existing surrounds. Old concrete with movement, hollow pavers or rotten deck framing need sorting before spigots go in.
- Weather. Coring and levelling in heavy rain is not worth doing badly.
- Late changes. Moving a gate after the glass is toughened means new glass.
None of these are common, and all are easier to manage on the quote than on the day.

Frequently asked questions
How long does frameless glass installation take?
About two weeks from signing to a finished fence. Most of that is manufacturing, because panels are toughened to your exact measurements and cannot be adjusted afterwards. The install itself is usually a single day.
Do you core drill into concrete or use base plates?
Both, and the surface decides. Core drilled spigots go into concrete and give the cleanest, strongest result. Base plated spigots are used over pavers, tiles and timber decks. We check the substrate on the site visit and put the method on the quote, so there is no surprise on the day.
Can you install a glass pool fence on a sloping yard?
Yes. Panels are stepped down the slope so every section still measures 1200mm from the ground on the outside. It takes more panels and more setting out than a flat run, so it costs more, and that is on your quote rather than added later
Do I need to be home during the installation?
It helps at the start and the end. Ten minutes to confirm the setting out and gate position, ten minutes for the handover. The rest of the day you do not need to be there, provided we have access.
