Pool fencing

Glass pool fencing in Clear Island Waters

One Gold Coast team. Ten years. Over 3,000 jobs.

You’ve spent a fortune on the pool, the paving and the outlook. The last thing you want is a fence you have to look at.

That is what Todd Mehlhopt built Gurus of Glass around in 2015. Frameless glass, done properly, so the barrier all but disappears and the whole yard opens up as one space.

Clean lines, 12mm toughened glass, polished edges, nothing there to catch your eye.

We are a Gold Coast business and only a Gold Coast business. Todd quotes your job himself and the same team installs it, start to finish.

Lake frontage changes the specification

Clear Island Waters sits on lakes rather than tidal canals, and that single fact changes what your fence needs.

Salt is the thing that kills pool fence hardware on the Gold Coast. On a freshwater lake frontage, well back from the beach, that pressure largely is not there. Fittings still need to be good quality stainless, but the top marine grades that a Main Beach or Sovereign Islands address genuinely requires are usually not necessary here.

That is money back in your pocket, and we would rather tell you that than quote the highest grade everywhere and let you assume it was needed.

Estate homes and the approval step

Several of the residential pockets here are gated estates with their own design guidelines.

Where that applies it adds an approval step before glass can be ordered, because toughened glass is made to your measurements and cannot be altered afterwards. We build that into the timeline at quote stage rather than finding out about it halfway through.

The lake is the view, so protect it

Homes here are oriented to the water. Living areas, decks and pools all face it, which is precisely the arrangement where a solid fence does the most damage.

Frameless glass across a lake frontage keeps the water in view from inside the house and from a seated position on the deck, which is where you actually look at it from. It is the same argument we make everywhere, and it lands harder here because the outlook is so much of what the property is.

Balustrades on the upper level

Most homes here are two storey with an upper deck or balcony facing the lake. Same view, same argument, same glass

Typical jobs in Clear Island Waters

Lake frontage runs. Fence between the pool and the water, with hardware specified for a freshwater environment rather than a coastal one.

Gated estate homes. Where design guidelines apply and the approval step goes into the timeline.

Two storey packages. Pool fence plus an upper deck balustrade facing the same outlook, quoted together.

Replacement work. Older aluminium coming out of established gardens.

What you are not paying for out here

It is worth being explicit about this, because it is money.

A beachfront job on this coast needs the top grade of stainless, and it is a real cost on a long run. A freshwater lake frontage well back from the beach generally does not.

Some installers quote one specification across the whole Gold Coast because it is simpler. If you are holding a quote for a Clear Island Waters job that prices beachfront hardware, that is worth a question.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need marine grade fittings on a lake front property?

Usually not the top grades. Freshwater lake frontage away from the beach is a much gentler environment than tidal canal or beachfront. Good quality stainless is still the right call, and we specify to your address rather than the suburb.

In several of them, yes. Design guidelines can cover pool barriers. We check and factor it into the timeline before ordering glass.

About two weeks from signing, plus any estate approval step. Most of that two weeks is manufacturing your panels.
