The most exposed addresses we work on
Sovereign Islands homes face open water. There is no headland, no built up frontage and nothing between the back of the property and the Broadwater.
That is why people build here and it is also the single biggest factor in how a pool fence is specified. A frameless fence on an open Broadwater frontage takes salt spray constantly and it does not get the rain wash that a sheltered canal fence gets.
Standard fittings do not last on these addresses. They corrode, they weep rust down the concrete, and the fence starts looking tired long before it should on a house of this calibre.
We spec the stainless grade up for open water frontage. It costs more on the quote and it is the difference between a fence that still looks new in ten years and one that becomes a repair job in four.
Big runs, big glass, big consequences
Sovereign Islands blocks are large and the pool areas are large with them. Runs here are longer than the coast average, which changes two things.
Setting out matters more. Across a twenty metre run your eye picks up any lean or step long before it picks up a millimetre out of plumb, so we work to the sightline as well as the level.
And low iron glass earns its place. The green cast on standard toughened glass is barely noticeable on a short run and very noticeable across a long straight one in full sun, which is what these backyards are.
Access and the bridge
Everything comes on and off the islands over the bridge from Paradise Point. It is not a problem, it just needs planning, particularly on larger jobs with long panels.
We work that into the schedule at quote stage rather than discovering it on the morning.
Balustrades too
Most homes here have terraces, upper decks and pool level balustrades facing the same open water. Same salt problem, same answer on the hardware
Typical jobs on Sovereign Islands
North and east facing Broadwater frontage. The exposed runs, and the ones that decide whether the hardware specification was right. Top grade stainless, no exceptions.
Internal canal frontage. Milder exposure, and the specification can come down accordingly. We will tell you which side of that line your address sits on.
Full rebuilds. New homes going up on existing blocks, where we are working to the builder’s program alongside the pool builder and landscaper.
Remediation. Replacing failed fittings on installations that were specified for a normal suburb rather than for open water. More common here than anywhere else on the coast.

Does salt really make that much difference on Sovereign Islands?
Yes, more here than almost anywhere else we work. Open Broadwater frontage with constant spray and no rain wash is the harshest environment on the coast for fittings. We go up a stainless grade on these addresses as standard.
Is low iron glass worth it here?
On a long straight run facing open water, usually yes. The green edge on standard glass is what you notice across twenty metres in full sun. On a shorter side run it is money you do not need to spend.
Do you handle access over the bridge for large panels?
Yes. We plan the delivery and the lift at quote stage. It is a scheduling item rather than an obstacle.
